Use of Concrete Between the Fences
If the budget allows, it is always preferred to provide a concrete surface on both sides of the Stun/Lethal or Lethal fence to reduce maintenance requirements and to add additional security. Note the ditch between the Stun/Lethal or Lethal fence and the exterior chain link fence in the photograph above. This concrete ditch conveys storm drainage water around the prison perimeter and discharges it at two of the four corners of the compound.
